Touching Magic: Scenes from an Enchanted Wilderness
Touching Magic: Scenes From Enchanted Wilderness, showcases a collection of lyrical photographs that capture mystery and beauty in the setting of Georgia’s coastal wilderness. This exhibition invites viewers into a land of imagination and presents visual narratives that evoke a sense of wonder. Visitors will have the opportunity to escape for a time from the transitory world of material existence, immersing themselves in an untamed land where mystical connections are made and hidden wonders are revealed.
Using varied photographic processes and mediums, the 29 photographers in this exhibition touch the magic and essence of Georgia’s coastal wilderness. This experience is the driving force behind all of the work, which is lyrical rather than documentary. The quality of light, the sea, the moss-craped live oaks and the decaying man-made structures create the atmosphere. Flora, fauna and figures become visual metaphors that speak to the transitory nature of the physical world and the enchantment and power of the natural word.
“In my photographs, I seek to capture fleeting moments that might otherwise go unnoticed or forgotten. By freezing time and preserving it through the medium of film, I create a visual record of the chance occurrences and serendipitous encounters that shape our lives. Through my work, I encourage viewers to reflect on their own experiences of time, chance, and memory and recognize these elements' beauty and complexity. I am particularly drawn to how memory shapes our perception of time. Memories are malleable and subject to interpretation, yet they can shape our present and future selves.”
